The
Alabama Indian Association is federally recognized under section 501(a) of
the Internal Revenue Code as a tax exempt charitable organization
described in section 501(c)(3). We proudly sponser our annual Indian
festival to help educate the general public about the culture and
traditions of the indigenous peoples who once inhabited this area. This event was
established to honor all Indians who were forcibly removed from their
ancestral Alabama homelands in 1835 & 1836 by the United States
military.
Tens of thousands Indigeneous people did not survive the long
torturous journey to their new homes in Oklahoma. By sponsoring this
event each year, we not only wish to draw attention to the suffering and
indignities that one people can inflict upon another through racism,
greed, and hatred, but also to indicate what can be accomplished when
people of various races and backgrounds work together toward a common
goal. It takes a large number of dedicated hard working volunteers
to produce an event such as this one each year. Its' success is due
to the unselfish efforts of these volunteers who donate their time,
energy, and ingenuity for the benefit of their fellow man. If you
would like to make a tax deductible donation to help with our work, please
